Malé: Discover Scuba Diving on Villingili Island
Explore the island of Villingili on a walking tour from Malé, then enjoy a beginner-friendly scuba diving session in the house reef (no scuba certification required).
Begin your adventure with a short ferry ride from Malé to the peaceful island of Villingili. Upon arrival, embark on a guided walking tour of the island. Stroll through the streets and learn about the island's history and culture. Pass by local restaurants, cafes, and major sites as you explore.
Next, head to the beach for a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) session. This PADI beginner-friendly, non-certification program allows people over 10 to try scuba diving under direct instructor supervision.
Your PADI-certified instructor and guide will begin with a quick briefing and shallow water skills practice. Then, dive into the water and explore the house reef, reaching a maximum depth of 12 meters.
No prior diving experience is necessary to enjoy this tour. To participate in DSD, guests must be at least 10 years old, possess basic swimming skills, and be in reasonable physical health. Participants must complete a medical questionnaire, sign a liability release, review basic safety guidelines, and pass a shallow water skills practice test before diving.
Participants must not have an airplane flight within 18 hours of their dive.
